Rope Work Day
On the the first day of “official” summer training, Hannah Kuegler joined up with B-12 alumni and training staff to learn how to set up rappelling and top rope climbing stations in a high angle environment.
Kuegler learned the basics of how to evaluate and select an anchor, how to rig single and multiple anchor systems, how to establish a rappel station and a climbing station, and how to ensure that both she and other personnel are using the equipment safely and properly.
Rope work is inherently dangerous, so special emphasis was put on the importance of the concepts of redundancy and equalization when rigging anchors and on the various checks that must be completed before trusting your life to the rope and the system.
